Maharashtra Legislative Council was adjourned twice on March 9 after BJP legislator Gopichand Padalkar allegedly made some insulting remarks in opposition to Minister of State for Dwelling Shambhuraj Desai and Council’s Deputy Chairperson Neelam Gorhe.
Later, Mr. Padalkar apologised within the Home and Ms. Gorhe instructed that the MLC’s remarks be expunged from the official data of the Home proceedings. The Home was discussing a proposal by the Opposition members over the regulation and order state of affairs within the State. Mr. Padalkar allegedly made some remarks whereas referring to Mr. Desai.
As Mr. Desai objected to the remarks, senior NCP legislator Satish Chavan joined him and requested Mr. Padalkar to tender an apology, however the latter refused to budge. Regardless of Ms. Gorhe’s intervention, the ruckus continued, following which the Home was adjourned twice for 10 minutes and 7 minutes.
When the Home resumed, Mr. Padalkar mentioned, “I inadvertently harm the emotions of some legislators, therefore I apologise for it. I had no intention of constructing any private or insulting remarks.” Later, the Council was adjourned once more for quarter-hour after an uproar from the Opposition members over their demand for the removing of Minister Nawab Malik from the State Cupboard, as he has been arrested in a money-laundering case.
Chief of Opposition within the Council Pravin Darekar mentioned, “Nawab Malik is dealing with allegations of shopping for land from folks linked to 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts.
